History

For more than 70 years we have led the way in the business of working with foams in New Zealand and Australia. It's a unique position which ensures we're constantly developing new and better ways to manufacture and convert foam.

"OUR LONG HERITAGE HAS GIVEN US THE LEADING EDGE IN NEW ZEALAND."

Dunlop Foams has a strong reputation for leading edge innovation and expertise. We have eight world-class manufacturing operations across Australia and New Zealand which ensure the highest quality foams are produced for our customers.

The Dunlop Legacy

Dunlop Foams harks back to the inflatable rubber tyre inventor John Boyd Dunlop (1840-1921). Back then it was all about bicycles and in 1893 the Dunlop Pneumatic Tyre Company opened its first factory in Melbourne.

Mattress Making

Dunlop Foams made its first mattress in 1931, a Dunlopillo & the brand is still well known to Kiwis more than 90 years later. Revolutionary at the time, it saw a shift in demand away from innerspring mattresses to foam and latex.

Ultra-Fresh

Dunlop Foams set up the continuing partnership with Ultra Fresh to incorporate antimicrobial protection in our foams. Ultra Fresh is a product which helps keep foams cleaner and healthier by stopping destructive microbes such as dust mites and other bacteria that trigger allergies and asthma.

Allergy New Zealand

For more than three years, Dunlop Foams has partnered with Allergy New Zealand for products made using Ultra-Fresh. Dunlop Foams products treated with Ultra-Fresh to help keep foams cleaner and healthier. This antimicrobial treatment helps prevent dust mites and other bacteria that trigger allergies and asthma.

Rugby Support

Dunlop Foams is a major supplier of soft goal post covers and stadium advertising hoardings for all levels of rugby in New Zealand from grassroots through to global tournaments staged locally.

Environmental Choice

Dunlop Foams achieved GECA (Good Environmental Choice Australia) Eco-label certification with 23 grades of Dunlop foams. The certificate is a worldwide industry standard for products and services that adhere to their high environmental performance standards. The GECA Level A furniture standard is recognised by the green Building Council of NZ.

Green Ribbon Award

Dream Foams are made in New Zealand using a state of the art CO2 manufacturing process which makes them feel soft and gives them fantastic resilience. They were awarded the prestigious Green Ribbon award for helping improve New Zealand's air quality.

The Future

In New Zealand, Dunlop Foams is part of the Ohinewai Development - where a state-of-the-art facility is currently being built to manufacture foams with modern environmental standards.
